The church and its saints
If you enter a Catholic church anywhere in the world, we see statues of saints, images of saints, and read about legends of saints. This is no different in Salzburg.
But why? Who were these saints? Why are they so important to the church and why were and are they so revered? And what is a saint attribute?
On this tour through Salzburg we want to search for traces of the veneration of saints. Saints Rupert and Virgil should not be missed as city saints, we meet Saint Nepomuk in many places in Salzburg, but also Saints Ehrentrudis, Engelbert Kolland, Saint Notburga von Rattenberg, Maria Theresia Ledochowska.
We visit churches, both well-known and less well-known, and I tell you about the lives of the saints for whom faith was the most important thing in their lives.
Let me know if you would like to know more about “your” favorite saint and maybe we can find a picture or statue of him/her in Salzburg.
